AutoCAD Match Text Content LISP: Copy Text to Other Texts
Copies the content of one text into other texts without moving or restyling them.
TXTMATCHLoad the downloaded .lsp file with the APPLOAD command in AutoCAD or GstarCAD, then type the command name. How to load a LISP file
Download all tools in one file (138 KB)TXTMATCH is an AutoCAD match text content LISP. You pick a source text, then select the texts to overwrite. Their content is replaced with the source content, while position, height, rotation, style and layer stay as they were.
AutoCAD's MATCHPROP copies properties such as color, layer and style, but not the text itself. TXTMATCH fills that gap: use it when the same label, note or code has to appear in many existing texts.
The changes run as one undo group, and the command line tells you how many texts were updated.
How to use it
- Load the file with APPLOAD and type TXTMATCH.
- Pick the source text (TEXT or MTEXT) whose content you want to copy.
- Check the source content shown on the command line.
- Select the texts to overwrite and press Enter.
Notes and tips
- Only TEXT and MTEXT are supported; block attributes and dimension text are not changed.
- If the source MTEXT contains formatting (bold, color, line breaks and so on), those codes are copied as they are and may show up literally in a single-line TEXT target.
- With very long MTEXT sources only the first chunk of the content may be copied; short labels are not affected.
- Including the source text in the selection is harmless; it is skipped.
