AutoCAD TABLE Command: How to Insert and Edit Tables

Creates a table object with rows and columns that can hold text and formulas.

Command
TABLE
Aliases
TB
English name
Table

The AutoCAD TABLE command opens the Insert Table dialog and adds a table object made of rows and columns. It is used for material lists, door and window schedules and title block data.

You can start from an empty table, link it to an Excel file through a data link, or fill it with data extracted from drawing objects. By default the first row is a Title, the second a Header, and the rest are Data rows.

A table's appearance comes from its table style, managed with TABLESTYLE. Cells can hold text, blocks and simple formulas such as sums.

How to use it

  1. Type TABLE or TB and press Enter.
  2. Choose a table style in the Insert Table dialog.
  3. Enter the number of columns and rows, column width and row height.
  4. Choose the insertion behavior (point or window), click OK and place the table.
  5. Type in the cells and use Tab or the arrow keys to move between them.
