AutoCAD MLEADER Command: How to Add Leaders with Notes

Draws a multileader made of an arrowhead, leader line and text or block content.

Command
MLEADER
Aliases
MLD
English name
Multileader

The AutoCAD MLEADER command creates a multileader: an arrowhead pointing at a feature, a leader line, and a note. It is used for material callouts, part numbers and general notes.

By default you pick the arrowhead location first, then the landing location, and then type the text. You can also choose to place the landing or the content first.

Arrowhead type, text height, landing length and content type are defined in multileader styles, managed with MLEADERSTYLE.

How to use it

  1. Type MLEADER or MLD and press Enter.
  2. Pick the point the arrowhead should point to.
  3. Pick the landing location.
  4. Type the note and click outside to finish.

Options

leader Landing first (L)
Asks for the landing location first, then the arrowhead.
Content first (C)
Places the text or block first, then asks for the arrowhead.
Options (O)
Sets the leader type (straight or spline), content type, maximum points and angle constraints.

Notes and tips

  • Use MLEADEREDIT to add leader lines to an existing multileader or remove them.
  • MLEADERALIGN lines up several multileaders, and MLEADERCOLLECT gathers block-content leaders into one.
  • If leaders are the wrong size for the drawing scale, check the scale setting or the Annotative option in MLEADERSTYLE.
