The AutoCAD MIRROR command creates a mirrored copy of selected objects across a mirror line you define with two points. Start it with MIRROR or the alias MI. It saves a lot of time on symmetrical plans, door swings and parts.
At the end of the command AutoCAD asks whether to erase the source objects. Answer No to keep both the original and the mirrored copy, or Yes to keep only the mirrored result, which is a quick way to flip an object.
How to use it
- Type MIRROR or MI and press Enter.
- Select the objects and press Enter.
- Pick the first point of the mirror line.
- Pick the second point; turn on Ortho (F8) for a horizontal or vertical line.
- Choose Yes to erase the source objects or No to keep them.
Options
- Mirror line
- The axis of symmetry, defined by two points. It is not drawn; it is only used for the operation.
- Erase source objects (Yes/No)
- Yes deletes the originals, No keeps them. The default is No.
Notes and tips
- With MIRRTEXT set to 0 (the default), text keeps its reading direction; set it to 1 to mirror text as well.
- Snap the first point of the mirror line to a midpoint on the axis of symmetry to avoid errors.
