AutoCAD MEASURE Command: Place Points at Intervals
Places points or blocks at a specified interval along an object.

The AutoCAD MEASURE command places point objects at a specified interval along a line, arc, polyline or spline. Start it with MEASURE or the alias ME. Despite its name it does not measure distances; use DIST for that.
While DIVIDE splits an object into a number of equal parts, MEASURE uses a fixed spacing, so the last segment may be shorter than the others. Placement starts from the endpoint closest to where you selected the object. Use a block instead of points to place, for example, a pole or light fixture every 3 meters.
How to use it
- Type MEASURE or ME and press Enter.
- Select the object near the end where measuring should start.
- Type the segment length and press Enter, or type B and enter a block name.
- Change the point style if needed so the points are visible.
Options
- Length of segment
- The spacing between placed points; you can also pick two points to show it.
- Block
- Inserts a block defined in the drawing instead of points; AutoCAD asks whether to align the blocks with the object.
Notes and tips
- Points are hard to see with the default point style; choose a visible one with PTYPE.
- The starting end depends on where you select the object; pick near the other end to start from there.
- If you need a set number of equal parts, use DIVIDE.
