AutoCAD LAYFRZ Command: Freeze a Layer by Picking an Object
Freezes the layer of the object you pick.
- Command
- LAYFRZ
- English name
- Layer Freeze
The AutoCAD LAYFRZ command freezes the layer of the object you click. Objects on a frozen layer are not displayed, not plotted and not processed during regeneration, so freezing is faster than turning layers off in large drawings.
You can keep picking objects to freeze several layers in one run. The current layer cannot be frozen; if you pick an object on it, AutoCAD reports this and leaves the layer unchanged.
To thaw every frozen layer, run LAYTHW. When you work inside a paper space viewport, you can also freeze a layer in that viewport only.
How to use it
- Type LAYFRZ and press Enter.
- Click an object on the layer you want to freeze.
- Keep picking objects to freeze more layers.
- Use Undo to reverse the last pick, or press Enter to finish.
