AutoCAD ID Command: Find the Coordinates of a Point
Displays the X, Y and Z coordinates of a picked point.

The AutoCAD ID command displays the X, Y and Z coordinates of a point you pick on the command line. It is a quick way to read the coordinates of a column, a level marker or a survey point.
Coordinates are reported relative to the current user coordinate system (UCS). If you need world coordinates, switch back to the World UCS first.
The picked point is stored in the LASTPOINT system variable. Entering @ at the next point prompt uses that point, so you can mark a location with ID and then draw relative to it.
How to use it
- Type ID and press Enter.
- Pick the point with an object snap.
- Read the X, Y and Z values on the command line.
Options
- Specify point
- The only input; the coordinates are printed and the command ends.
- Object snaps
- Use Endpoint, Center, Intersection and other snaps to pick the exact point.
- LASTPOINT
- System variable that stores the picked point, reusable with @ in the next command.
Notes and tips
- Coordinates follow the current UCS; for map coordinates, make sure the UCS is World.
- The number of decimal places depends on the precision set in UNITS.
- Use the Delta X and Delta Y values from DIST to see the difference between two points.
