The AutoCAD LIST command shows the database information of the objects you select in the text window. It reports the object type, layer, space (model or paper), handle and any properties such as color or linetype that are not set to ByLayer.
Geometry data depends on the object type: start and end points, length and angle for a line; center, radius, circumference and area for a circle; vertices, length and, if closed, area for a polyline.
When you select several objects, each one is listed in turn. Long output is shown page by page, and you may be asked to press Enter to continue.
How to use it
- Type LIST, LI or LS and press Enter.
- Select the objects you want information about and press Enter.
- Read the data in the text window, pressing Enter for the next page if prompted.
- Press F2 to close or reopen the text window.
Options
- Select objects
- The only input; a separate report is produced for each object.
- General data
- Object type, layer, space (Model or Paper) and handle.
- Geometry
- Coordinates, length, radius, circumference, area and similar values depending on type.
- Properties
- Color, linetype and lineweight when they are not set to ByLayer.
Notes and tips
- You can select and copy text from the text window and paste it into another document.
- Selecting many objects produces long output; a few objects at a time is easier to read.
- For a single value, the Properties palette (Ctrl+1) is often quicker.
