AutoCAD FILLET Command: How to Round and Close Corners
Connects two objects with a tangent arc of a specified radius.
- Command
- FILLET
- Aliases
- F
- English name
- Fillet
The AutoCAD FILLET command connects two lines, arcs, circles or polyline segments with an arc of a specified radius that is tangent to both. Start it with FILLET or the alias F. It is used for rounded corners on furniture, road intersections and machine parts.
With a radius of 0, FILLET draws no arc and instead trims or extends both objects so they meet at a sharp corner, which makes it a quick way to clean up corners. Holding Shift while selecting the second object creates a sharp corner regardless of the current radius.
How to use it
- Type FILLET or F and press Enter.
- Type R and enter a new radius if needed.
- Select the first object.
- Select the second object; the corner is rounded on the sides you picked.
Options
- Radius
- Sets the fillet arc radius. The value is remembered for the next use.
- Trim
- With Trim on, the objects are trimmed or extended to the fillet arc; with No trim, they are left as they are.
- Polyline
- Fillets every vertex of a 2D polyline with the current radius in one step.
- Multiple
- Lets you fillet several corners without restarting the command.
- Undo
- Reverses the previous fillet in Multiple mode.
Notes and tips
- Filleting two parallel lines creates a half-circle arc whose diameter equals the distance between them.
- The current radius and trim mode are shown on the command line when FILLET starts.
- For beveled corners, use CHAMFER, which works the same way.
