Moves the endpoints inside a crossing selection to stretch or shorten objects.

- English name
- Stretch
The AutoCAD STRETCH command lengthens or shortens part of a drawing by moving the endpoints that fall inside a crossing window or crossing polygon. Start it with STRETCH or the alias S. It lets you change the length of a room or part without editing each connected line.
Objects partially inside the crossing window are stretched, while objects completely inside it are moved. Circles, blocks and text are not stretched; they move only if their center or insertion point is inside the window.
How to use it
- Type STRETCH or S and press Enter.
- Select the area to stretch with a right-to-left crossing window and press Enter.
- Pick a base point.
- Pick a second point, or point in a direction and type a distance, then press Enter.
Options
- Crossing window / polygon
- Select with a crossing window (C) or crossing polygon (CP) to define which endpoints are moved.
- Base point
- The starting point of the stretch; together with the second point it sets the distance and direction.
- Displacement
- Lets you enter an X,Y displacement instead of picking points.
Notes and tips
- Associative dimensions whose definition points are included in the window update to show the new value.
- Objects selected individually by clicking are moved, not stretched.
- With Ortho (F8) on, point in a direction and type a distance for an exact stretch.
