Shows the true distance between two points with a dimension parallel to them.
- Command
- DIMALIGNED
- Aliases
- DAL, DIMALI
- English name
- Aligned Dimension
The AutoCAD DIMALIGNED command places the dimension line parallel to the line between the two points you measure, so it shows the true length of sloped edges.
On horizontal and vertical edges it gives the same result as DIMLINEAR; the difference appears on angled edges. Its appearance comes from the current dimension style.
How to use it
- Type DIMALIGNED or DAL and press Enter.
- Pick the first extension line origin, or press Enter to select an object.
- Pick the second point.
- Move the cursor to set the offset of the dimension line and click.
Options
- Mtext (M)
- Edits the dimension text in the text editor.
- Text (T)
- Changes the dimension text at the command line.
- Angle (A)
- Changes the angle of the dimension text.
Notes and tips
- Snap to the endpoints; free clicks give wrong dimension values.
- If you need the horizontal or vertical projection of a sloped edge, use DIMLINEAR.
