SUMLENLoad the downloaded .lsp file with the APPLOAD command in AutoCAD or GstarCAD, then type the command name. How to load a LISP file
Download all tools in one file (138 KB)SUMLEN is an AutoCAD total length LISP that gives you the combined length of the objects you select. It is handy for quick takeoffs of cable, pipe or duct runs, or for checking a perimeter, without inspecting objects one by one in LIST or Properties.
It accepts LINE, ARC, CIRCLE, LWPOLYLINE, POLYLINE, ELLIPSE and SPLINE objects and filters everything else out of the selection. The command line shows count and length for lines, arcs and circles, polylines, and ellipses and splines separately, followed by the grand total. Arc segments inside polylines are measured at their true length.
How to use it
- Load sumlen.lsp with APPLOAD and run SUMLEN.
- Select the objects to measure with a window, crossing or individual picks.
- Press Enter and read the breakdown by type and the total length on the command line.
Notes and tips
- The result is in drawing units, not converted to metres or feet. Divide as needed for your drawing units.
- Circles count with their circumference, and closed polylines with their full perimeter including the closing segment.
- Results are printed to the command line only; press F2 to open the text window for longer output.
