- English name
- Construction Line
The AutoCAD XLINE command creates construction lines that extend infinitely in both directions. They help you align views, lay out grid lines and find angle bisectors.
XLINE objects are ignored by ZOOM Extents, and you can trim them into regular lines or rays when needed.
Keeping construction lines on their own layer makes them easy to hide or delete once the layout is done.
How to use it
- Type XLINE or XL and press Enter.
- Pick a point, or type one of the options H, V, A, B or O.
- Pick a through point to set the direction.
- Add as many construction lines as you need and press Enter to finish.
Options
- Hor (H)
- Draws horizontal construction lines through the points you pick.
- Ver (V)
- Draws vertical construction lines through the points you pick.
- Ang (A)
- Draws lines at a given angle, or at an angle relative to a selected line.
- Bisect (B)
- Bisects an angle defined by a vertex and two points.
- Offset (O)
- Draws a construction line parallel to a selected line at a given distance.
Notes and tips
- Put construction lines on their own layer and turn it off or freeze it when you are done.
- For a line that extends infinitely in only one direction, use the RAY command.
